The Fuzz Factory from ZVex is a 5-knob fuzz pedal with 2 old-stock '60s germanium transistors. Though the circuit isn't modeled after any one specific classic fuzz effect, it delivers tones straight out of the 1960s. These 5 knobs control the Fuzz Factory's parameters at various operating levels, letting you shape your own personalized fuzz.

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota; ZVEX Effects’ founder Zachary Vex has been often described by his peers as a “mad scientist” who abandons any conventional pedal norms and creates completely original and inspired circuits. ZVEX are most renowned for their diverse range of fuzz, distortion and boost pedals, but the company also produces modulation effects and even step sequencers.
ZVEX Effects arguably made its name with its legendary Fuzz Factory pedal, debuting in 1995. Considered a modern classic, ZVEX’s flagship Fuzz Factory remains incredibly popular for its spluttery ’60s-style fuzz sound that can be twisted and manipulated to offer a multitude of crazy, high-gain textures with glitchy overtones. Muse’s Matt Bellamy loves the Fuzz Factory so much, that he has its circuit fitted in most of his custom Manson guitars!
The ZVEX pedal range is currently split into two. Their USA offerings all feature unique hand-painted artwork, meaning that no two are identical! The ‘Vexter’ series encompasses all of ZVEX’s most famous pedal designs, but these stompboxes feature silk-screened artwork – making them more affordable.

The Channel 2 is derived from the second channel of our Super Duper 2-in-1 pedal. This is a small footprint pedal that covers the range from unity gain line buffer, to a light transparent overdrive. Think of it as the second channel on your amp, or as a line buffer, or as a boost that adds sparkle. -

This pedal is a modified version of our Box of Rock’s Distortron Engine. The improvements include a gain boost switch for added sizzle and a sub control switch with 3 levels. The amounts were carefully selected to reduce “flubbiness” that occurs when using amps with heavy low-end response. It would be immodest of me to suggest that this ZVEX effect is the greatest distortion pedal of all time, but it probably is. Try it last in your chain, and beat it up with your other effects... it stacks like a dream. -
